Ulteig Engineers provided electrical engineering and construction administration services for design of lighting, power distribution, emergency power distribution, fire alarm systems, nurse call systems, and communications systems. Project includes a 55,000 square foot patient room addition to the facility along with renovation of 60,000 square feet of existing space. The project also consisted of a new electrical service in the boiler plant, and two new electrical services to the main facility. In addition, a second emergency generator was added to the complex. The emergency generator is rated at 750 kW and replaced an existing 500 kW rated unit. The facility also has a 625 kW rated generator that Ulteig Engineers designed for installation in 2000. The two generators each serve approximate one-half of the hospital. The 750 kW unit serves 3 automatic transfer switches for the north side of the hospital and one for the boiler plant and the 625 kW unit serves 3 automatic transfer switches for the south side of the hospital. The power distribution system is designed so either generator can feed all of the transfer switches in the event that one generator would fail or be taken out of service. Architecture One provided the architectural work for this project.
