Ormat Technologies contracted Ulteig to perform complete site adaptation design and engineering services for four 7.5 mW generation sites. Ormat is a pioneer in converting thermal heat to electricity through their Recovered Energy Generation process. The sites were located at St. Anthony, North Dakota and Wetonka, Clark and Estelline, South Dakota. Ulteig provided civil, structural, mechanical, and electrical engineering services, as well as land surveying services for all sites. This work included conducting topographic surveys, site design, access roads, utility coordination, concrete foundations, thermal oil pipelines and steel structures. Ulteig played a significant role in providing electrical engineering services where we were responsible for designing the power systems, communication and control wiring, fiber optic communication to microwave towers, and heat tracing. This project constructed by Ormat and Ulteig Engineers has minimal environmental impact and makes use of an untapped energy source.
