The recent addition to the Montana Dakota Utility (MDU) Campus included two buildings, the MDU Resources Group and the Knife River Coal Corporation. The buildings total nearly 150,000 square feet and have open floor plans with an in-floor ducted electrical distribution system. The MDU-Resources building at the north end of the campus features a lower level floor that is constructed thirty feet below-grade on one side of the sloped project site. Lighting systems, automatic fire alarm and smoke detection systems, zoned paging through out, noise masking systems, telecommunications systems, and stand-by emergency generators make this a state of the art electrical design in both buildings. The campus is encompassed with a duct bank system to provide communication between the facilities. The lead architect for the MDU Campus was Ritterbush, Ellig, Hulsing, PC.
Ulteig Engineers also provided electrical and structural engineering services on The Williston Basin Pipeline Company, which is housed in the third facility on campus.
