Terminal Improvements
City of Bismarck
Bismarck Airport - Bismarck, ND

An aging facility with limited space, poor circulation and a failing structure were the grounds for the construction of the new Bismarck Airport Terminal. During the preliminary design, the 9-11 terrorist attacks took place and new security requirements and terminal operation procedures impacted the project. Ulteig provided engineering services on this new modern terminal, which included the following:

  • Study of existing terminal that included decision analysis of alternatives
  • Public involvement to include questionnaires and Citizen's Advisory Committee to review recommended alternatives
  • Lead professionals for the design of a new 77,000 SF, two-level terminal, parking lots with accompanying roadways, and aircraft aprons
  • All civil, structural, electrical, and mechanical designs
  • Coordination of architect on new terminal
  • All coordination with the FAA in regard to funding eligibilities, PFC eligibility, and phasing of federal dollars
  • Worked closely with all federal, state and city officials throughout the Planning and Funding Strategy Meetings
  • Plans and specifications for six separate phases
  • Construction administration for all phases
  • Preparation of federal reimbursements and close-outs
