Industrial Park Sanitary Lift Station
City of Moorhead
Moorhead, MN

The City of Moorhead, Minnesota retained the services of Ulteig Engineers to evaluate alternatives for the expansion of their existing industrial park. A major task for the expansion was the design of a 1,800 GPM sanitary sewage lift station.  The sanitary sewage lift station was sized and situated to effectively serve the initial MCCARA Third Addition of 80 acres as well as the remaining 320 acres of the ultimate sanitary sewage lift station service area. The sizing of the sanitary sewage lift station for the initial 80 acre development is 800 GPM which will be expandable to 1,800 GPM at the time of ultimate development.

As part of the preliminary structural design of the Sanitary Sewage Lift Station, several alternatives were considered.  The alternative chosen was to construct a single cast-in-place concrete structure above ground and sink it into place. This alternative was chosen due to construction concerns regarding the size requirements of both the wet well and valve vault as well as the soil characteristics of the project area.
