Highway 200 Underpass
The Falkirk Mining Company
Underwood, ND

This bridge is a 240-foot, three-span structure with precast concrete girders set on a cast-in-place concrete sub-structure, supported on steel piling.  The road surface is a cast-in-place concrete deck.  A two and one-half mile asphalt paved detour road, meeting all NDDOT design standards, was incorporated to bypass traffic for one full construction season.

Unique design features include a special clearance requirement and barrier design for coal haul trucks passing beneath the structure and storm water pumping station to control flooding.  Project coordination between The Falkirk Mining Company (owner) and the NDDOT was also required since the underpass on the state highway system.

Services provided include project development, structural design, detour road design, traffic control design, storm sewer lift station design, forcemain, storm sewer design, plans and specifications, construction observations, all in coordination with the NDDOT.
