40th Avenue SW Grade Separation at I-29
North Dakota Department of Transportation
Fargo, ND

This project was the first major interstate roadway and bikeway design project completed by a consultant for the North Dakota Department of Transportation. The first phase of the project included completion of the project concept report and contract documents for elevating I-29, building a north bound bridge on I-29 for the 40th Avenue underpass, and realigning and constructing both 40th Avenue and the east I-29 frontage road. The second phase of this project included preparation of contract documents for a south bound bridge on I-29 and a bridge for the west I-29 frontage road, as well as the western extension of 40th Avenue SW.  

Services completed by Ulteig Engineers include traffic analysis, intersection analysis, project concept report, environmental evaluation, public involvement, pavement evaluation, right-of-way plats, design three bridge structures, storm sewer lift station, utility relocation, plans and specifications, construction administration, construction observation, geometric roadway design, and project closeout.
